On again - Off again

Well, I have given up on trying to plan for "the wedding". Talked to Ty & the only definite info he had was it would take place May14 (can you say Mother's Day?) So I start planning for 2 nights at a bed & breakfast locally here as a wedding gift. Then I think hmmmmmm maybe I should check with Gabby before I finalize anything in case she has plans in mind. The word from her was more along the lines of "I don't know if or when this wedding will happen - we may just do something here in Seattle and have a big party in 2 years when he comes home.... ooooo kkkkkkkaaayyyy ... Mom takes a step back. I tried, but it seems I will not be able to plan for anything so whatever happens, happens. If I can't afford a gift the week they show up then so be it. Sounds sucky but I don't know what else to do. I can't get a straight answer from either of them. So time to step back and let it go.

On another note, talked to Ty last night and he broke the engine mount on the Jeep. At first I thought he said he had to get his TEETH fixed and I thought what the hell did he do to his teeth?? But then it turned out to be his JEEP. I told him to get some of his buddies together to help him fix it. He some some sgts there could help and some other guy may be able to weld him a part. I said hey you had fun, no one got killed or hurt, right? Then he says he almost flipped it. Ah well... he didn't, so all's good. Shit happens, right? Sounds like he loves off-roading with that thing! Apprently he took Gabby off-roading while she was visiting. Boys & thier toys.

He also said he hasn't shot his rifle since January. What is up with that??? Don't ya think they'd want these guys practicing that every day?? Doesn't make sense to me. From what Ty says when the new strykers arrive then they will have a way to get out to the ranges. Hmmm...no other form of transporation available? I don't get it *sigh*

Wedding Bells

Heard from Ty last night - I was about to go to bed and the phone rang. We had our usual rocky start to the conversation - "hi!! how are you?" pause "good" pause "What ya doing?" pause "not much - you?" pause "not much either". But eventually we got to talking. I really hate phones.

He got his Stryker license and he should get another pin or medal or something for his dress uniforms. He was telling me about PT last Friday - they did some special thing instead of just PT. He said they took the fat guys/guys who can't run into the woods somewhere (to be casualties) and I guess the other guys had to find them and put them on a stretcher and bring them back. At least that's what it sounded like what they did, to me. Ty said thier guy who can't run ended up showing up late and was with the rest of the group instead of being a casualty and they had to keep waiting for him to catch up. And the Sgt somehow didn't realize there was a lake in the middle of where they were headed so they had to go around an extra mile and were the last ones to get done.

Wedding is planned for May 14th (Mother's Day). Gee last year I got a nice bouquet of flowers - this year I get a daughter-in-law. I can't for the life of me see what the big hurry is, especially since she's not going with him and he will be gone for 18 mos. Just wait the 18 months...the kid hasn't even lived yet. But it's not my life or my decision. I just hope it works out. Forever is a long time!
