at Fort Lewis

OK, I know I'm the mom - but when I look at these pics, I can't help but think others may see a soldier, but I see my little boy. And there's that killer smile that I love so much!
Wow I've sure been a slacker, eh? Now that the worry of graduation and basic is over I guess I've really slowed down. I started a new job early January and that's taken a lot of the free time I used to have. Now I get to talk to Ty on his cell and get to know a little bit of what's going on with him. I still really suck at phone calls though and feel like I have to practically "interview" him with questions rather than have a regular conversation. I was much better with letters...
He's settled in at Fort Lewis, though at first they had him assigned to the wrong unit or something. Now he's rooming with a SGT (no name - guess he's just SGT). He said he's learning to drive a Stryker - somehow he was chosen as driver. I'm not sure if that's a good thing? Like what were the other options? He said he got a promotion to E2 - I have no idea what that means other than he gats a stripe. Apparently stripes are a good thing lol!
He got to enjoy the Steelers winning the Super Bowl with the family he spent Christmas with. Poor things were actually thinking Seattle had a chance. He took his Terrible Towel - oh and his NEW JEEP! He bought a white jeep from some Sgt there and he's all geeked about it. Much better choice than the Mustang he was looking at.
Spent the last 2 weekends going over his dad's with the list of things Tyler HAD to have out there... Good Lord he had quite the list! With the new job, I was never home when the post office was open so had to get R done on Saturdays. So now he has all his CD's, tons of civvies, shoes, boots, coats, misc stuff and his tools. I think it would have been cheaper to buy new tools but hey, that's what he wanted so I mailed 'em. True to his word, he sent me a check for the postage. *smile*
